Peer Review 1

For today's first crit, we did something different which is what will be happening for every secondd week crit that we have. Instead of presenting our final ideas and models to our tutors we are reviewing three peers from a different group, (doing the workshop which we will be doing next) therefore by reviewing their work we can get an idea about what the workshop is all about and we can get advice on what to do or what not to do.

This week I reviewed the group doing the A1 Animation Workshop.  These are the blog addresses below.
Simon Arms - www.armsarchdesign.blogspot.com
Simon created a sleeping which was situated on top of an already existing building.  He wanted to go with the idea of being able to see the stars when sleeping and waking up.  This process has been shown through a few perspective drawings showing the stars and sky above.

Paul Yoon - http://archdes101.tumblr.com
He wanted to go with the idea of waking up in a place which makes him feel out of place and confused which is not something that we would usually wake up to. Therefore he has placed it in a carpark on Beach Rd where one would wake up in a capsule disoriented in a dark place.  The animation was not one which was expected.  The length of the clip was approximately 4minutes long however the shot of the animation was only 15seconds.  It was a quick video which raced around the A1 page which went with the idea of a person being disoriented.

Rachael Anne Russel - http://rachaelarch.blogspot.com/
Rachel used different techniques in her animation such as collage (cut outs of textured wood) as well as thread.  Rachael built in between two already existing buildings and went with the idea of creating one space in which people could come together as a common space.  The animation included the use of people within the space to communicate the idea of interactions between people in the common space.  She explored a lot of different ideas in order to come to her final plans of the space in between the two buildings

When using Adobe Aftereffects, the most important things to remember are to use a low resolution when taking photos while drawing otherwise the file will be very large and will take a long time to import into a place like Youtube to be publicly viewed and also that all files are numbered in order, otherwise if there are gaps, the video will not be smooth and continuous.
